Monday – Day of the Fairytale city

Monday – Day of the Fairytale city
After breakfast we all went to Břeclav to catch the train to Brno – the destination of our day trip. The first sight we visited in Brno was the tomb of the mummies of Capuchin monks. After this we went to Brno town hall where we were already expected by councillor Pavlík. Mr. Pavlík welcomed us in Brno and gave all of us a bag of promotional leaflets and notebooks of South Moravia and Brno. He took us to the roof of the town hall where we had beautiful view over Brno city centre. From the town hall we went to Denis park where we ate our lunch. We continued to St. Peter and Paul’s cathedral where we climbed up the stairs to enjoy the view over Brno from the cathedral’s tower. We visited the interior of the cathedral and we went on to the Freedom square. Here was said to be the beginning of free time with the possibility of joining one of the three groups: the shopping group, the drinking group and the sightseeing group. The shopping group went to Vaňkovka shopping mall and the drinking group went to famous Pegas pub. The sightseeing group went to see the path of Brno’s legends, which were the legends of the dragon, the wheel, the councillor built-in a wall, the crooked spire, the legend of why the bells beat 12 times at 11 o’clock in Brno and the last legend was the angel showing his bottom. The sightseeing group moreover continued to the castle/prison Špilberk, where they took the excursion around its prison. After Špilberk the sightseeing group went to see the glockenspiel (the bell play) and then returned back to the rest of the participants to join them for dinner and later return back to Lednice again.
